The egg biryani recipe is an Indian popular dish. biryani is made with rice, eggs, and raw spices. It is an alternative to the traditional biryani, which is typically made with chicken and mutton. In egg biryani, boiled eggs are added to the rice along with raw spices like cumin, coriander, turmeric, and biryani masala, along with onions,( onions are the key ingredient in biryani) tomato paste, and yogurt for added flavor in biryani. It’s appetizing. and India’s favorite dish is often enjoyed as a main course in India. biryani is garnished with fried onions and coriander leaves and served hot with raita or salad.
Ingredients For Egg Biryani Recipe
-5 boiled eggs (you can take more than five eggs also)
-2 cups basmati rice
-3 onions, thinly sliced
-2 tomatoes,( paste)
-1/2 cup yogurt
-2 tablespoons biryani masala powder
-2 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
-2 raw green chilies
-1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
-1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
-1/4 cup fried onions
-2 tablespoons ghee or oil (ghee would be better )
Egg Biryani Recipe Step By Step Instructions
– Wash the basmati rice and soak it in warm water for more than 30 minutes.
– Heat ghee or oil in a large deep pot or pressure cooker. Add the whole raw spices (cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, and bay leaf) and sauté for two minutes until fragrant.be careful in this step.
– Add the, thinly sliced onions and sauté until they turn golden brown. It takes around 5-7 minute
– Add the ginger-garlic paste and raw green chilies. Sauté for three minutes until the raw smell disappears.
– Add the tomato paste and cook until it turns soft, dark red and pulpy.
– Add the biryani masala powder to this mixture and mix well. Cook for one minute.
– Beat the yogurt until smooth and add it to the masala. Mix the mixture and cook for five minutes.
– Now, add the boiled eggs to the pan and gently mix them with the masala.
– Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot. Gently mix everything together. (be careful eggs should not break)
– Add water (about 4 cups) to cook the rice. Add salt and bring the mixture to a boil.
– when the water starts boiling, cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and cook on low heat until the rice is fully cooked and all the water is soaked up. If using a pressure cooker, cook for 1 whistle on medium heat and then simmer for 5-7 minutes.
– Once the rice is cooked, switch off the heat. Let the biryani rest for at least 10 minutes.
– Egg biryani is ready now Garnish the egg biryani with chopped coriander leaves, mint leaves, and fried onions.
– Serve biryani with raita or your favorite side dish.
